Metallurgy Co-Op                                                                                                        Mount Polley Mining Corporation (A Subsidiary of Imperial Metals Corporation) Location: Williams Lake, BC Rotation Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off Term: 12 months beginning Jan. 2025   About Us: Mount Polley Mining Corporation, a subsidiary of Imperial Metals Corporation, is a leading mining company with operations in central British Columbia. Our site is located near Williams Lake and features a large-scale open pit copper and gold mine with an adjacent Magnetite plant. We are committed to sustainable mining practices, fostering a safe work environment, and providing opportunities for professional growth.   Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Co-op Metallurgist to join our team at Mount Polley for a 12-month co-op term. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in mineral processing and metallurgy. Reporting to the senior Metallurgist, the successful candidate will work primarily at the Magnetite plant with occasional rotations to the copper processing plant, contributing to key activities that support plant optimization and metallurgical performance.   Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform plant sampling and data collection to support process evaluations.
  • Assist in grinding surveys and metallurgical test work.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to supervisors and senior metallurgists.
  • Use Bilco software for metallurgical data analysis and process control.
  • Support metallurgical projects and provide insights for process improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with the metallurgical team to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
  • Participate in other mineral processing tasks and metallurgical responsibilities as required.
  Requirements:
  • Enrolled in a post-secondary program in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an emphasis on safety
  • High level of proficiency in MS Excel
  • High level of commitment to improving the business through continuous improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, and analytical skills.
  Other Requirements Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:
  • Completion of pre-placement functional screen
  • Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements
  Additional Information: This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Williams Lake area. A company-provided bus service is available for commuting between Williams Lake and the Mount Polley site.   Why Join Us?
